“San Pedro faces a big problem because of the floodings that occur every time there is a typhoon. This is the reason why I called for an inter-agency meeting to find long-term solutions,” Matibag said.

At least 11 out of 27 barangays in San Pedro City were submerged in floods, especially in areas near the Laguna Lake, as Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine” lashed out in parts of Luzon.

Residents were forced to evacuate and businesses were shuttered due to the floodings.

Among the solutions offered during the inter-agency meeting led by Matibag were the improvement of the city’s drainage systems and sewers and thw construction of pumping stations and flood control gates.

Matibag, whi is running unopposed for another congressional term, also broached the idea of filtering rainwater to make it potable.
