Classes in some areas of Davao City have been suspended due to severe weather caused by Tropical Storm “Kristine” on Tuesday.
The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office announced that classes across all levels in Barangay Manuel Guianga, Dominga, Suawan, Gumalang, Manambulan, Marilog Proper, Sirib, and Tamugan are suspended.
This decision was made in response to moderate to heavy rains and strong winds currently affecting parts of Davao City, attributed to the trough of “Kristine.” The suspension was implemented at around 8 AM on Tuesday.
Additionally, the Davao City DRRMO posted an update at 10 AM indicating that they are closely monitoring the Talomo River channels along Barangay Tugbok Proper, as it is nearing Code Yellow or alert level.
Meanwhile, an executive order was issued by Governor Datu Pax Ali Mangungudatu in Sultan Kudarat, suspending classes at all levels in both private and public institutions to ensure the safety of students.
Local governments in Davao del Sur and Davao del Norte advised residents to observe precautionary and safety measures and to remain at home as much as possible, as weather disturbances are expected to impact some parts of the Davao Region.
