Army has 1,591 newly minted soldiers in ’24, eyes 2,900 more

THE Philippine Army has so far recruited 1,591 new soldiers this year.

Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said the command eyes a total of 4,029 recruits for 2024 grouped into five training cycles.

“The Centralized Recruitment Program for Candidate Soldiers has already produced 1,591 privates from the School for Candidate Soldiers (SCS) Classes 792-2024 and 793-2024.” Dema-ala said.

Meanwhile, 1,339 candidate soldiers belonging to SCS Classes 794-2024 and 795-2024 are still undergoing training at the School for Candidate Soldiers.

With this, the Army broke ground for new key training facilities in Capas, Tarlac that will cater trainees at the School for Candidate Soldier of its Training Command (TRACOM).

Army chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido led the ground breaking ceremony of the facilities consisting of a grandstand and new barracks.

“In eight months or earlier, we will see these facilities completed. As such, we will now have better facilities to train our soldiers and have a better output,” Galido said in his address to the TRACOM leadership and the candidate soldiers. 

He also reiterated his commitment to building world-class training facilities for the soldiers he described as the Army’s most valuable resource. 

Galido also vowed support for constructing top-notch facilities to accommodate thousands of recruits from all over the country.
