FORMER senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan, along with outgoing Makati Mayor Abigail Binay, Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar and other senatorial bets of the Makabayan party filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) on Friday, the fourth day of the filing period, at The Manila Hotel Tent City.
Virtually unknown senatorial aspirant Froilan Serafico, former president of the Manila Polo Club, also filed his COC.
Honasan has been elected to the Senate four times, while Binay will run under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
Camille Villar was accompanied by her father, former Senate president Manuel Villar and brother incumbent Senator Mark Villar.
Makabayan is fielding 11 bets who are known sectoral leaders in the 2025 senatorial race. The slate comprised of current and former lawmakers in the House of Representatives, as well as activists and advocates seeking entry into politics. Among them are Arlene Brosas, France Castro , Teddy Casiño, Liza Maza; Jerome Adonis, Jocelyn Andamo; Ronnel Arambulo; Mimi Doringo; Mody Floranda, Amira Lidasan; and Danilo Ramos.
