THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has apprehended 207 vehicles, 43 of them towed and impounded, as part of an ongoing road-clearing operation to ease traffic flow in the National Capital Region.
The recent operation, carried out by members of the MMDA Special Operations Group- Strike Force (SOG-SF), focused on Commonwealth Ave., West Ave., Quezon Ave., Pres. Diosdado Macapagal Ave., 5th Ave., and Liberty Ave. The team removed all vehicles obstructing and congesting traffic flow in these areas.
MMDA chairman Romando Artes said the MMDA will “persist in clearing all public roads, alternative routes, and Mabuhay Lanes to ensure passable and obstruction-free roadways for motorists.”
The clearing operation is being conducted in close coordination with local government units, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Philippine National Police.
The MMDA urged the public, especially barangay officials, to report illegally parked vehicles and other obstructions on major roads and sidewalks in their areas. Motorists are also urged to take pictures of illegal vendors, basketball courts, and other structures and upload them to the agency’s official social media account.
