The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is prohibiting trucks and buses from using the U-turn slot under Quezon Avenue Flyover along EDSA beginning Saturday, June 22.
“U-turn slot under the EDSA Quezon Avenue flyover, both northbound and southbound, will only be passable to light vehicles. Buses, trucks, and other vehicles with a height of 2.50 meters and above will be prohibited starting 7 am on Saturday, June 22,” the MMDA stated in an advisory Wednesday.
The MMDA stated the closure of the U-turn slot is to give way to the installation of scaffolding under the flyover which will limit the vertical clearance to 2.5 meters only.
The activity is part of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) ongoing project of retrofitting and strengthening permanent bridges, including the EDSA Quezon Avenue flyover.
Affected buses and trucks are advised to take the following alternate routes:
From EDSA Southbound:
– Left turn to Quezon Ave.
– Left at Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago Ave. (formerly Agham Road)
– Left at North Ave.
– To Mindanao Ave. or EDSA
– To destination
From EDSA Northbound:
– Straight towards North Ave.
– Take a U-turn in front of Quezon City Academy to the destination
The retrofitting works are expected to be completed by August 4.
