The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) inaugurated its new headquarters in Zamboanga City.
According to Major Orlando Ayllon, acting Chief of the WestMinCom Public Information Office, the facility was funded through the Department of National Defense-Department of Public Works and Highways (DND-DPWH) Tatag Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) Program for Calendar Year 2024.
“The construction of the WestMinCom Headquarters building is driven by the desire to enhance the command’s operations and support its mission,” Ayllon stated.
The Groundbreaking Ceremony was led by Lt. Gen. William Gonzales, the Commander of the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom).
This new headquarters will house the Triad offices which include the Office of the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Intelligence, the Office of the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Operations, and the Office of the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Civil-Military Operations.
“It will serve as the heart of the command’s operations, providing a modern, efficient, and collaborative environment that embodies WestMinCom’s commitment to excellence in service, ensuring its capability to conduct Joint Operations in its Area of Responsibility (AOR) in support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Mission,” Ayllon added.
The new headquarters will also feature a Command Operations Center and an Office of Communication Electronics and Information System (CEIS).
