The Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines and GetKlean Philippines signed a memorandum of agreement on May 31, 2024 to enhance vocational training and employment opportunities.
The partnership aims to strengthen Tzu Chi’s Technical-Vocational Scholarship Program by integrating GetKlean as an on-the-job training and employment partner for students enrolled in Tzu Chi’s Refrigeration and Airconditioning Course (RAC).
It also seeks to further refine scholars’ technical skills, expedite their employment prospects upon graduation and ensure sustainable income generation.
“The Tzu Chi community is very happy with our GetKlean partnership. This cooperation will open a path for deserving Filipinos to secure a bright future for their families and continue the cycle of goodness,” Tzu Chi Philippines chief executive Henry Yuñez said.
GetKlean chief executive Marvin Perol noted the shared vision of providing job opportunities and said he treats the partnership as one of their milestones.
“We are aligned in our mission to help people,” Perol said.
GetKlean, initially established to address unemployment resulting from the closure of its media business during the COVID-19 pandemic, has evolved into a leading provider of comprehensive cleaning and air conditioning services nationwide, employing over 200 individuals across 100 cities.
With a commitment to using entrepreneurship in helping people and alleviating poverty, GetKlean aims to expand its workforce to 1,000 employees by 2027.
Tzu Chi’s Technical-Vocational Scholarship Program, dedicated to empowering underprivileged Filipinos with employable skills, offers a comprehensive package including free tuition, meals, school supplies, transportation allowance and TESDA assessment fees.
Since its inception in 2018, the program has benefited 1,041 scholars and created jobs that uplifted the lives of poor Filipino families.
“With GetKlean, we pray that our technical vocational training program will be more successful, enabling our scholars to find gainful employment and empowering them to continue the cycle of compassionate relief,” Yuñez said.
