The Department of Agriculture-Cordillera (DA-CAR) has again taken proactive measures to continuously support local farmers facing challenges in selling their produce.
DA-CAR sold around 7.8 metric tons (MT) of salvaged cabbages on Jan. 6. The cabbages, sourced from La Trinidad Trading Post, found new markets within La Trinidad, Tuba, and Sablan.
As part of the extended efforts, DA-CAR, on Jan. 9, expanded its reach by bringing 7.5 MT to E-CARE, a non-government organization. The agency also brought 7.5 MT tons to Kalinga, 4 MT to Isabela, Nueva Ecija, and Manila, and 3 MT to the DA-Central Office, with plans to reach additional places such as Bulacan and Region IV-A in the succeeding days.
To recall, DA-CAR also sold 3.1 MT of cabbages to the different government agencies in Baguio City last January 5.
As of Jan. 9, DA-CAR has already sold 29.4 MT of cabbages.
