How to grow pechay in your own space and pace

Pechay is often planted in our yards because it is easy to grow and quick to harvest. Pechay is nutritious, especially its stem. It is also rich in vitamins A, C, and K.

It is good to plant pechay in porous soil with organic fertilizers. It is essential that the water flow doesn’t get logged in the soil but does not dry out quickly. Plant in a sunny place with 18-22° C. It can also be planted any month of the year.

Choose a seed suitable for the planting area. Disease-resistant seeds can be used. Start planting by digging up the soil and putting one kilogram of dried chicken manure and 300 grams of carbonized rice hull per square meter.

Sow seeds in a seed bed, preferably with a seedling tray for easy transfer. Cover the seeds lightly with the soil. Make sure the seeds are covered with earth so insects don’t eat them. Water the seedlings daily. Better to use a sprinkler.

Transplant the plant 15 days after sowing. Wet the seedlings thoroughly one day before transplanting so that they can be easily removed from the seedlings. Transplant the seedlings in the garden bed with a distance of six to 12  inches, depending on variety. Water the garden after this.

Apply fermented plant juice (FPJ) once to thrice a week to keep plants healthy and increase resistance to diseases and pests. Water the garden 2-3 times a week or as needed. Removing weeds to avoid competition for nutrients and sun is also customary.

The primary pechay diseases are Damping Off, Downy Mildew, and Club Root. The main bugs are Diamondback, Cutworm, and Aphids. Pull out diseased plants and burn them to stop the spread. Also, reduce watering when the plants start to wilt due to diseases. Blue Label pesticides can be used to control pests beetle pests. Just don’t spray pesticides a day or two before harvest and fresh casino bonus.

The pechay plant can be harvested from 30 to 40 days after planting. Do this in the afternoon to prevent wilting. Pull or cut the pechay and wash it, then place it in a plastic bag and poke holes for air. Wrap the harvested pechay with old newspaper before putting it in a plastic bag to keep it fresh longer.
