The country’s fixed broadband speed improved to 75.02Mbps in November, up from the 71.08Mbps registered the month before, signifying a 5.54% month-to-month improvement for fixed broadband.

It also represents an improvement of a whopping 848.42% since the Duterte administration began in July 2016.

Mobile speed also increased as the country produced an average download speed of 40.37Mbps, from 38.12Mbps in October, indicating a 5.90% month-to-month improvement for mobile.

This represents an improvement of 442.61% since President Rodrigo Duterte assumed office.

The massive climb in internet speed can be attributed to the President’s announcement to streamline and speed up the issuance of local government unit permits in July 2020, generating a significant increase in permits granted to telcos from that period to October this year compared to 2019.

The fast granting of permits allowed telcos to fast-track building infrastructure (cellular towers and fiber optic network) necessary in boosting services and connectivity.
