The presidential tandem of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, dubbed as the BBM-SARA Uniteam, has gained strong support and endorsement from 44 Cebu mayors as their official bets in the upcoming 2022 national elections.
The endorsement came when Marcos and Duterte were in Cebu on Friday as guests of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines during their regional planning conference.
"On behalf of all the 44 mayors of the province of Cebu, particular to the mayors of the 5th district, as well as my fellow mayors in the Visayas, for whom I am the national vice-president, we hereby express our unequivocal support to you, for your candidacy and we will do everything in our power to ensure an unequivocal victory in the coming elections," LMP-Cebu Chapter President Mayor Christina Frasco said.
The crucial endorsement from the LMP-Cebu mayors came a day after Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), Lakas-CMD, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), and Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) forged a four-party grand alliance to support the BBM-SARA Uniteam.
Marcos thanked the Cebu mayors for supporting him and Duterte-Carpio.
"It's a tremendous help, of course. National candidates really rely on the support of local government officials. I welcome it very much, and I thank all of those mayors in region seven who gave me and Inday Sara their support," Marcos said.
Frasco said no other presidential aspirant has Marcos's competence and experience. She added that his proven track record in the executive, legislative and administrative had prepared him for the "most difficult job" in the country.
"We all have common hopes, the hopes that we can provide a better life for fellow Filipinos and our families and pin our hopes on our next president, firm in the belief that he can deliver a bright and progressive future, not only for Cebuanos but to all our fellow Filipinos," Frasco said.
