The Manila Health Department (MHD) has started conducting on Tuesday the inoculation of thousands of residents under priority groups A1, A2, and A3 with specific comorbidities.
Priority A1 are workers in frontline health services; A2 are senior citizens; and A3 are persons with comorbidities.
For A3, only those with specific comorbidities were inoculated. These are those with immunodeficiency state; people living with HIV; active cancer or malignancy; transplant patients; and patients under immunosuppressive treatments, the MHD said in a statement.
The vaccination activities were conducted in the six district hospitals and 18 public schools in the six districts of Manila.
Each of the vaccination sites was allotted 1,000 doses each. The vaccination activities were conducted on November 23, from 7 a.m. till 4 p.m.
The districts hospitals are Gat Andres Bonifacio in District 1; Ospital ng Tondo in District 2; Justice Jose Abad Santos in District 3; Ospital ng Sampaloc in District 4; Ospital ng Maynila in District 5; and Sta. Ana Hospital in District 6.
The public schools where the vaccination activities were being conducted are as follows:
District 1: Isabelo Delos Reyes Elementary School, Emilio Jacinto Elementary School, and Vicente Lim Elementary School; District 2: President Sergio Osmeña High School, Plaridel Elementary School, and Calderon High School; District 3: Andres Bonifacio Elementary School, Pedro Guevarra Elementary School, and Juan Sumulong Elementary School; District 4: Legarda Elementary School, Ramon Magsaysay High School, and Moises Salvador Elementary School; District 5: Rafael Palma Elementary School, Manuel A. Roxas High School, and Justo Lucban Elementary School; District 6: Sta. Ana Elementary School, EARIST High School, and Jacinto Zamora Elementary School.
The Department of Health (DOH) earlier approved the provision of booster shots to fully vaccinated health care workers (A1), who were the first to receive the jabs in March.
Senior citizens (A2) and immunocompromised adults (A3) were also prioritized, according to
NTF chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. Galvez said the Health Technology Assessment Council (HTAC) and All Experts Groups on COVID-19 Vaccines issued a “positive opinion” on the administration of booster shots.
