Ikea opens online store to Filipinos

Ahead of its Pasay store opening in fourth quarter this year, Ikea on Wednesday opened its 24/7 online store to Filipino consumers.

“After several weeks of learning from our test run, we are glad that we are now accessible to more Filipinos,” said Georg Platzer, store manager of Ikea Pasay City. “We are very excited to be part of the lives of the many people in the Philippines and share in their dreams of a better life at home.”

In September, Ikea had a test run for its online store, during which it opened up online shopping with limited capacity to test all operational and technical processes and ensure an enjoyable and hassle-free online shopping experience.

To shop online, customers must first create an Ikea website account (this is different from Ikea Family membership). After that, online shoppers can choose the products they want, add to cart, and then proceed to checkout. The store accepts payments via major credit cards, GCash, and installment via BDO.

Ikea offers three delivery options: truck, parcel, and click and collect. Orders that do not exceed 30kg in weight and 1.8 meters in length and height will be considered as parcel orders. If an order exceeds 30kg, and the height and length are more than 1.8 meters, it will be considered as a truck delivery order. Online shoppers can also choose to pick up their items in select collection points.

Truck delivery orders are currently limited to Metro Manila, only while parcel deliveries extend to the greater Metro Manila area including Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, parts of Quezon (up to Lucena), Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bataan, and Subic.
