The Taguig Lady Generals got back to their winning ways after defeating the Pacific Water Queens, 43-34, Sunday in the Pia Cayetano WNBL Season 2021 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
The Lady Generals had a balanced attack as they came away with their third win after five outings, bouncing back from their 65-59 loss against Glutagence last October 17.
Lorraine Capilit scored a team-high nine points, while Janeth Sison had seven points and eight rebounds for the Lady Generals, who remained in their place behind Glutagence (4-2) in the team standings of the women’s professional basketball league.
Marichu Bacaro also gave a good account of herself after finishing with seven points, three rebounds and two steals for Taguig.
Jollina Go had 14 points and seven rebounds, and Cristine Cortizano had 10 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks but the Water Queens suffered back-to-back defeats this weekend to fall to 1-6.
The Queens also missed the services of Snow Penaranda for the second time.
The Lady Generals started the game with an 8-0 lead including a triple by Sison. A jumper by Sison gave Taguig its biggest lead of the contest, 27-15, in the second period.
The closest Pacific Water got in the game was at 36-30 midway in the fourth but Bacaro buried a free throw and Kang Hortaleza scored a jumper with 1:42 left to end the threat.
