Want to travel to Cebu? A local startup provides a 360-degree view of the tourist attractions in the province through Virtual Reality (VR) technology.
Mataverse, a startup corporation that specializes in the application of VR and 360° Media in business, optimized its VR kit to “bring” Filipinos to Cebu via Suroy Cebu Virtual Tour.
It includes 48 cities and municipalities of the province, including, among others, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Oslob, Moalboal, Bantayan Island, and Camotes Island. As of this writing, majority of the destinations are available, a few are still in development.
The VR kit includes a web-based Virtual Tour Builder and Mobile Virtual Tour Application.
Mataverse is endorsed by the Department of Science and Technology Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) for funding by the Technology Applications and Promotions Institute – Technology Innovation for Commercialization (TECHNICOM) project.
The optimization, according to DOST-PCIEERD, aims to jumpstart the enterprise VR ecosystem in the Philippines and bring Filipino innovation to the global technology landscape.
“May Mataverse serve as an inspiration for us to pursue more collaborations with startups who will lead the future of innovation in the country. Solutions and opportunities await for innovative startups who would like to thrive in the new normal, and DOST-PCIEERD is here to guide them,” executive director Dr. Enrico C. Paringit said in a statement.
