Some 668 Navoteño families have finally received their second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)–National Capital Region, in coordination with the City Government of Navotas, has distributed the P8,000 emergency cash assistance.
“The wait is over. After more than a year, 668 families have now claimed their Bayanihan 1 second tranche. This is just the beginning though. We will continue to work with the DSWD until all qualified Navoteño beneficiaries have received their cash aid,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.
In December last year, Tiangco wrote DSWD-NCR Director Vicente Gregorio Tomas asking why some beneficiaries were excluded from the SAP second tranche payroll.
The mayor sent a total of 51 letters bearing 4,382 names of beneficiaries who claimed they did not receive their emergency cash subsidy.
Tiangco, together with some city department heads, then held a series of dialogs with DSWD officials to settle the matter.
In a meeting with DSWD Sec. Rolando Joselito Bautista and other DSWD key personalities on August 9, the city learned that 668 of the beneficiaries had incomplete data but were eligible to receive cash aid; 614 have received other forms of emergency subsidy; and 3,100 others are undergoing final validation of the agency.
