700 rookie cops told: Be brave but responsible

The National Capital Region Police Office has recruited more than 700 new officers as the police force strengthens its thrust to be more professional and responsive amid the coronavirus pandemic.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said the 709 new police officers will boost their intensified campaign against any form of criminality.

The new set of officers will undergo the s Recruit Course (PSBRC) training at the National Capital Region Training Center and Cordillera Administrative Region Training Center.

“I hope in the future, you will all be members of ERA (Example, Responsible and Accountable) police officers. In so doing, you would always be giving good service, with bravery and compassion to the Filipino people,” Danao said.

The oath taking ceremony of the new recruits came a day after Philippine National Police chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar ordered the creation of a database of rogue and dismissed cops to prevent their reinstatement in the force.

Eleazar tapped the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management to create a database of personnel removed from the police service and ordered that all motions for reconsideration filed by dismissed police personnel be immediately resolved.

“I have instructed the Personnel and Records Director to make a database of all dismissed policemen and immediately resolve their motions for reconsideration so that we can promptly stop any attempt by them to return to service,” Eleazar said in a statement.

As of June this year, a total of 5,151 police officers have been dismissed from the service due to various offenses since 2016 as aresult of the intensified internal cleansing program of the PNP.

Eleazar said a total of 18,664 police personnel were also penalized for various offenses.
