The Bureau of Quarantine warned applicants for International Certificate of Vaccination and Prophylaxis (ICVP) or “yellow card” they will face harsh penalties if their supporting documents have been faked or forged.
BOQ Deputy Director Dr. Roberto Salvador said penalties range from revocation of passport to job termination.
The BOQ had taken note of a rising demand for the yellow card, a document used by BOQ to indicate vaccines taken by an individual. This document, which is recognized by the World Health Organization, may be presented to their country of destination.
Demand for the yellow cards rose after Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. said that some overseas Filipino workers in Hong Kong were refused certification from the Philippines.
Weighing in on the issue, Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday proposed that the yellow card should be issued after an individual gets fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Robredo said applying for yellow card — especially those who immediately need it — is “doable.”
Robredo urged the local government units (LGUs) and BOQ to work together to create a single database, which could be efficient in providing the yellow card.
