The postponement of the 31st SEA Games this year has compelled board members of the Philippine Fencing Association to put off their search for new members of the national squad.

“Magkakaroon kami kami ng selection. For next year na iyun,” said Canlas on Facebook Live.

The SEA Games Federation Council recently voted unanimously  to call for the postponement of the 31st SEA Games this year.

Canlas said the top four performers in each weapons class in the men’s and women’s divisions have earned their places in the national pool.

During the final leg, Ateneo de Manila standout Maxine Esteban got back at Samantha Catantan, 11-10, in the finals of the senior women’s foil event.

The 20-year-old Esteban bounced back from her loss to  Catantan, 8-15, in the second leg.

This allowed Estebam  to  keep her  slot in the national squad.

A bronze medallist in the women’s team foil, Esteban fought her way in the finals with a 15-11 triumph over Wilhelmina Lozada during action that was held at the Ormoc Superdome.

Earlier, CJ Concepcion ruled the men’s sabre after he disposed of Daniel Sia, 15-11.
