PNOC unit, PFDA eye energy projects

The Philippine Fisheries Development Authority and PNOC-Renewables Corp. are looking at jointly developing renewable energy and other energy efficiency projects.

PFDA general manager Glen Pangapalan said in a statement several cold storage units owned by port clients already installed solar energy panels to power their operations.

“We are very interested about this renewable energy projects with PNOC-RC. We are happy that PNOC RC initiated discussions about potential projects like these. This is a good way to fast-track looming partnerships between GOCCs,” Pangapalan said.

PNOC-RC discussed the steps and requirements to be taken and provided by PFDA and its regional fish ports for the possible project implementation. These include preparation of memorandum of understanding between the two agencies, scouting of target location sites of the project, identification of other energy conservation opportunities for the PFDA RFPs and others.
