2 suspects nabbed with P3.4-m shabu

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Anti-narcotic agents arrested two suspsected bigtime illegal drug traffickers and seized some 500 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride with an estimated street value of P3.4 million during a sting operations along Magalang-Concepcion Road, Barangay San Francisco, Concepcion, Tarlac Saturday.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency director Christian Frivaldo identified the suspects as siblings Cervando Montano Gayas, 26, alias Mata and Aurora, 29, both of Bgy Rizal, Makati City Metro Manila.

He said the suspects motored all the way from Makati City to Concepcion town in Tarlac just to deliver shabu to a poseur buyer with whom they negotiated the sale of illegal drugs through exchange of text messages.

Frivaldo said the suspects and the PDEA agent agreed to meet along the national highway of Concepcion town at Bgy San Francisco section past 11 p.m. Saturday. He said both were immediately arrested after handing over a resealable transparent plastic bag containing white crystalline substance.

Sensing they are being set up, one of the suspect tried to escape and ran towards the bush but PDEA operatives tailed him and arrested moments later, Frivaldo.

The Gayas siblings are known bigtime courier of shabu in Makati City and nearby areas in Metro Manila and Central Luzon, said Frivaldo. Both suspects are in the radar of PDEA for their involvement in the illegal drugs trade, he said.

The suspects also yielded a cellular phone and other paraphernalia during the buy-bust.

The suspects were brought to PDEA regional headquarters for further investigation. Violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being readied against them.
