Majority of Filipinos—regardless of religious affiliation—prayed at least once a day during the pandemic, a survey conducted by pollster Social Weather Stations showed.
Among Catholics, 27 percent said they pray several times a day, 40 percent once a day, 17 percent weekly, nine percent monthly, and three percent occasionally.
At least 37 percent of the respondents belonging to Iglesia ni Cristo said they pray several times a day, 29 percent once a day, 20 percent weekly, three percent monthly, and nine percent occasionally.
Among other Christian denominations, 37 percent pray several times a day, 33 percent once a day, 14 percent weekly, 12 percent monthly, and two percent occasionally.
Muslim respondents, on the other hand, were asked how many times they perform the Salah—prayers that are traditionally observed five times daily at prescribed times.
Majority of the Muslim respondents, or at 53 percent, said they pray the Salah five times daily, 29 percent a few times daily, 16 percent sometimes, and two percent said over a year ago.
The November 2020 survey also found 38 percent of Filipino adults rating themselves as very religious, 50 percent moderately religious, 10 percent slightly religious, and two percent not religious at all.
The survey had 1,500 respondents, of which 83 percent were Catholics, five percent Muslims, two percent INCs, and 10 percent other Christians.
