Members of the media were now included in the A4 list, Roque said.

Filipino workers abroad were also elevated from the B5 category to the A4 level.

Meanwhile, The Taguig City government on Friday announced it will include members of the media in its list of individuals who will be vaccinated free of charge against the coronavirus disease.

“Once you work here, and Taguig is the area of your coverage, we are responsible for you,” Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano said.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said people deprived of liberty had been included in the government’s final list of sub-categories under the vaccine priority A4, which gives priority to all frontliners other than health workers.

Guevarra made the assurance even if the PDLs had not been included by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases in the A4 priority group of vaccine recipients.

“The IATF approved yesterday [April 15] the final list of sub-categories under vaccine priority A4, which pertain to all frontliners other than health workers,” Guevarra said in a text message.

The sectors belonging to the A4 group are:

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire earlier said members of the media were not included in the A4 list because they would be included in the B classification with other workers in society.

The Department of Health is developing detailed guidelines for the A4 category.

National Economic and Development Authority Undersecretary for Planning and Policy Rosemarie Edillon on Monday said establishments, agencies and organizations would issue certificates of A4 eligibility to their employees belonging to the category.

Edillon said EAOs were also urged to provide logistics support, including transportation, to facilitate their workers’ inoculation.

EAOs, she added, were also encouraged to adopt a scheduling system for their workers, taking into consideration possible adverse reactions after vaccination which may result in workers taking time off from work.
