The grave of the four Filipino oil workers kidnapped and executed by the terrorist group Islamic State six years ago has finally been located, the Philippine Embassy in Libya said Tuesday.
The embassy confirmed the bodies of Donato Santiago, Gregorio Titan, Roldan Blaza, and Wilson Eligue from recovered from the eastern coastal city of Derna .
The victims were given a proper burial at the Dahr Ahmar Islamic Cemetery by members of the Libyan Red Crescent team.
“After six long years, the families of our four kababayan will finally find closure,” Philippine Chargé d’Affaires to Libya Elmer Cato said.
The Filipino victims were abducted along with two co-workers from Austria and the Czech Republic by ISIS militants who attacked the Ghani Oil Field in southern Libya on March 6, 2015. Rey Requejo
The six had since been presumed dead although their bodies were never recovered.
