He must be around four to five weeks old. Being just a baby, he was not aware of the danger that awaited him as he meowed and walked towards the busy street from the grassy portion of the main road in San Mateo, Rizal.
He is so tiny that motorists will not be able to see him to avoid hitting him and crushing him to death.
Fortunately, a biker named Michael Angelo Castro stopped, picked up the kitten, and brought him back to the grassy area where we believe he was abandoned.
He kept trying to go back to the street and even went up the tire of Michael Angelo's bike. There was no mama cat in the area. We did not want him to get hit by vehicles as the drivers may not see him, thus, we opted to bring him home.
We were walking towards our vehicle when we heard another kitten crying in the grassy area. We searched around and saw another kitten, presumably a sibling, stuck between blades of grass and struggling to free himself. We put down the other kitten who immediately wobbled towards his sibling and somehow helped him “get down” from the grass.
We then thanked Michael Angelo for helping the kitten, and brought the two kittens home with us.
We believe the kittens had just been separated from their mama cat as they are healthy. We are certain the mama cat took good care of them—their fur are healthy and they had full bellies—which made us more sad that they were separated from their mama so soon. We wonder where the mama cat is now.
The kittens are now being fed kitten milk and wet cat food (cat food in cans). They will be dewormed after a week, and then they will be brought to the clinic for the first of three vaccines against feline illnesses after another week.
