14 arrested in Taguig for illegal gambling

Fourteen people were arrested in a crackdown led by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group regional chief P/Col Randy Glenn Silvio against illegal gambling.

The suspects were nabbed due to the intensified campaign or Oplan Bolilyo after reports that illegal gambling proliferated in Taguig.

Based on the report submitted by P/Lt.Col. Dennis V. Rodriguez to CIDG director Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, the suspects were arrested at 11 a.m. on February 23 in North Signal, Taguig, while collecting bets inside the house of the maintainer Danilo Bagio, 53, married and residing at Pahinga Norte in Candelaria Quezon.

Nabbed with him were bet collectors Alan Reyes, 52, married and residing at 4 Victoria Village, San Miguel, and Clemente Blanco, 53, married and residing at 175 Apitong Street in Creekland, Hagonoy, both from Taguig City.

Meanwhile, police identified the bettors caught as Aryand Lugana, 22, single; Joemel Tasico, 31, single; and Erlito Kaibigan, 40, married were all residents of Candelaria Quezon, while the other eight (8), John Paul Ramiro, 40; Emerita Leaño, 58, widow; Josephine Demesana, 43, single; Christian Carlo Quiray, 26, married; Loreto Jr. Panulaya, 46, single; Joessie Mullon, 46, married; Israel San Juan, 33, single; and Kent Gerald Lleren, 23, single were all residing in Taguig City.

The suspects were caught red-handed during the raid conducted by the joint forces of Southern MMDFU, SPD DMFB, RID NCRPO and Taguig CPS with different pieces of evidence for illegal numbers game operations: calculator, pens, ‘rotahan’, list of bets and bet money amounting to Php8,534.00 in different denominations.

The police were preparing charges against the suspects.
