The Presidential Commission on Urban Poor is set to hold a national urban poor assembly on Feb. 15 throughout Luzon via a zoom meeting for accreditation purposes.
As part of the agency’s accreditation caravan, a national urban poor assembly will be held on Monday with the participation of urban poor leaders from various urban poor organizations in Luzon.
Chairman and chief executive Alvin Feliciano will spearhead the comprehensive virtual conference to be streamed live on the PCUP’s official Facebook page.
Despite a slight delay in the conduct of the assembly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he vowed to motivate those involved UPOs to take part in the virtual assembly.
“It is a big challenge when the pandemic hit our country but now in 2021, we have many plans to improve and re-establish the state of the urban poor sector. And this includes widespread accreditation plus the acquisition of NUPA with urban poor organizations, we will build it gradually,” Feliciano said.
More than 300 UPOs from various provinces in Luzon are expected to participate and are ready to become legitimate organizations to enable them to avail themselves of the immediate access to government services.
PCUP said the event is also a preparation for the coming elections for leaders at the city or municipality, provincial, regional and national levels of all accredited UPOs.
