Las Piñas sets P200 million for vax

The City of Las Piñas is joining other local government units in the National Capital Region in preparing funds to buy COVID-19 vaccines to protect its residents from the deadly disease.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the city government is shelling out P200 million for the vaccines.

“We want to make sure that the funds allocated by our local government are available for the immediate purchase of the required vaccine when it becomes available in the market,” said Aguilar.

Aguilar said her administration will prioritize to vaccinate poor residents and senior citizens, and city frontliners such as medical and health workers, city government officials, and members of the police force.

Las Pinas is among the cities in Metro Manila with the lowest active cases because of its aggressive approach in implementing rules and regulations.

Despite this, the city chief executive continues to appeal to residents to just stay home if they don’t have any official business outside.

She also asked residents and business establishments to always practice healthy and safety protocols in the community, and ordered the city police and local government unit enforcers to strictly implement the government guidelines.

Aguilar said the city government is also continuing its expanded targeted testing at the Ligtas Center located at Daniel Fajardo Fajardo to those with symptoms and with possible exposure to patients  affected with the virus.

The mayor said aside from the expanded targeted testing that the city health office was conducting, the local government has a COVID-19 testing-on-wheels as part of efforts to reach out and serve all barangays.
