CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga—Police on Wednesday arrested a man caught selling cdespite earlier warnings on the sale and manufacture of prohibited pyrotechnics, following raid at a shop along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Binang 2nd, Bocaue, Bulacan.
Police identified the suspect as Rhendel De La Cruz Siongco of Sitio Bihunan in Binang. He did not resist arrest.
Police Colonel Lawrence Cajipe, director of the Bulacan Provincial Police Office (BPPO) stationed at Camp Alejo Santos in Malolos City, said the suspect is also into online selling of prohibited firecrackers.
In his report to BGen. Valeriano De Leon, Cajipe said Siongco was caught in the act offering prohibited pyrotechnic items to customers, who turned out to be undercover police.
Seized from the suspect were six packs of “Goodbye Philippines,” a pack of “PlaPla,” and an “atomic bomb” firecracker worth a total of P1,320.
De Leon on Tuesday warned pyrotechnic traders to refrain from selling any kind of firecrackers or face arrest, in the wake of reports that some traders are still hawking firecrackers either online or through face-to-face selling.
“Sale of firecrackers is prohibited,” said De Leon, adding that violators will be sent to jail and will be facing criminal offenses.
The entire Central Luzon police force is enforcing all laws and rules and regulations regarding the manufacture, sale, and use of firecrackers and pyrotechnics as directed by higher police headquarters, he said.
De Leon encouraged New Years’ Eve revelers to use any other kind of material to create noise in welcoming the new year.
