Navotas workers to get swab tests

Upon their return to work, employees of the City Government of Navotas will undergo swab testing for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“Experts said there is a possibility of a dramatic increase of COVID cases after the holidays. We deemed it prudent to have our employees tested for their own safety and the safety of those they come in contact with while working,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

All employees, including city officials, have been scheduled for testing on January 4-8.

They may forgo quarantine or isolation if they are not tagged as close contacts of COVID patients or do not show any symptoms of the disease.

Last June, Navotas also had its city hall workers tested for COVID-19.

It also launched a massive community testing since it imposed a city-wide lockdown on July 16.

Furthermore, the city called on Navotas-based companies and informal workers to avail of the city’s free COVID testing.

“Testing is free for all Navotas residents and non-Navotas residents employed by companies in the city. Extensive testing, coupled with immediate quarantine, isolation or treatment, could help us minimize COVID transmission,” Tiangco noted.
