Duterte grants one-time P10k gift to government workers

President Rodrigo Duterte has authorized the grant of a one-time service recognition incentive worth P10,000 to qualified government employees.

Under Duterte’s Administrative Order 37 signed on Dec. 18, the incentive will be received by workers in national government agencies, including those in state universities and colleges and government-owned or -controlled corporations and those occupying “regular, contractual, or casual positions.”

“The payment of the SRI to all qualified government employees shall not be earlier than 21 December 2020,” the order says.

“Government employees deserve to be rewarded to recognize their collective and unceasing participation in and invaluable contribution to the administration’s continuing efforts toward the establishment of streamlined government processes and a more responsive delivery of public services,” Duterte said.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, the Bureau of Corrections, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority will also receive the incentive, according to the order.

Employees who have rendered less than four months of service are entitled to a pro-rated share of the incentive.

Government workers who have not received any additional year-end benefit in 2020 over and above the benefit under Republic Act 6686 are also entitled to the incentive, according to Duterte’s order.
