Atty. Jose Malvar Villegas, co-founder of Kaanak ng mga Bayaning Himagsikang Filipino 1896, recently led the celebration of the birth of Andres Bonifacio at Aberdeen Court in Quezon City where they also talked about the heroism of Gen. Miguel Malvar.
The event, attended by more than 50 NGO member-affiliates of Katipunan Kontra Krimen at Korapsyon (KKK), which Villegas also founded, was co-sponsored by World Philosophical Forum Philippines (WPFP) headed by Dr. Shariff Albani.
Villegas, grandson of the National Hero Gen. Miguel Malvar —who led the Filipino forces against the Americans in the Filipino-American war—stated that many historians believe that Bonifacio was the first president of the Republic of the Philippines and Gen. Malvar was the second president after he moved to Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo's post when the latter was caught by the American forces in 1901.
Villegas likened the current pandemic to the 1899 to 1902 Philippine-American war where millions of Filipinos were killed by the American Forces, considered as one of the darkest chapters in the country. That is why he believes that Malvar, Tuloy Ang Laban is a very timely film.
Produced by Villegas and directed by Jose “Kaka” Balagtas, the film tackles the life of Gen. Malvar played by Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
“The film is a continuing saga of heroes, from Bonifacio and Malvar, and in these times of the heroism of the frontliners fighting against the pandemic,” echoed Francisco L. Wong and Dr. Luis Ramon V. Rodriguez, president and vice president of KKK-Joint Medical Ventures JMV-KAMI (Kalusugan at Makabayanihan), which is the anti-COVID Program of KKK.
Wong and Rodriguez said that the Office of the President must have an Executive Order which will post an Express Lane in Customs in order not to delay the vaccine and other medical supplies from other countries like China where vaccine will be given free to the Filipinos through the WPFP.
