Parkour makes debut on Saturday

The sport of parkour has been included as one the disciplines under the Philippine Obstacle Sports Federation.

It will make its debut when the POSF organizes an event this Saturday at the Pretty Huge Obstacles grounds in Taguig City.

Parkour will have athletes scaling big buildings and high walls, getting them to run, climb, swing, vault, jump, roll, crawl, do plyometrics and other movements during competition.

POSF president Al Agra said they now have more disciplines under their wing, now that they have parkour.

“We also now have more facilities available to us, aside from what we have in Taguig,” said Agra during Tuesday’s Zoom session of the weekly Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum.

The venues where obstacle sports can be done will now include places in Quezon City, the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City, Subic, Cebu, Boracay and Laguna.

This is now possible now after the federation got approval from authorities to resume its activities after nine months in lockdown.

With the addition of parkour, the POSF will now have four subsports to take care off. The others are obstacle course racing, ninja racing and adventure racing.
