When you are a basketball player playing for the NCAA and a son to a City Councilor and basketball coach, the expectations for you to deliver are incredibly high. That is why this heartthrob athlete from Letran Squires is doing his best to meet everyone’s expectations.
Up-and-coming talent from Letran Juniors team, Filipino-American Kyle Dominic Tolentino, is trying to portray a dynamic image, and at the same time, does his best not to let everyone down.
Born on Sept. 25, 2001 in New York, USA to Marikina City Councilor Elvis Tolentino and Aileen Tolentino, the 6-foot-2 cager is currently playing for Colegio de San Juan de Letran as a grade 12 student.
While being an athlete, he has other projects on the side, proving that he also cares for his community. In the recent typhoons that devastated the country that caused floods particularly in their place in Marikina, Kyle was one of the people who took the frontlines for donations and had helped in relief operations in their city.
In the world of basketball, on the other hand, Kyle is also someone who can deliver for the team when it matters. In the Manila Elite Basketball League, he was awarded as player of the game when he scored 20 points coupled with 2 rebounds and 1 assist to help beat Titan Angels. His career-high in points is 39 in Marist Basketball League.
For the basketball players that he looks up to, Kyle lists Paul Lee in the PBA and Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson. Asked on how he balances studies and the sports, he said “time management is always the key.”
“The 3-point shot is my favorite shot because I’m confident with it,” shared Kyle.
Apart from basketball, the teen cager enjoys watching movies, and his big dream is to be part of a team that plays in the big league.
