Flag carrier on Sunday announced the cancellation of domestic and international flights on Nov. 1 and 2 after the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was closed to commercial flights.
“As a safety measure, several planes were evacuated to safer ground. Evacuation flights have been carried out from Manila to various domestic stations unaffected by super typhoon Rolly,” PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said.
The Manila International Airport Authority announced the 24-hour closure of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to all types of flight operations from 10 a.m. of Nov. 1 to 10 a.m. of Nov. 2.
PAL cancelled the following flights in anticipation of the typhoon which is expected to directly affect Metro Manila on Sunday afternoon.
International flights between Manila and San Francisco were already cancelled on Saturday. PAL also suspended on Sunday international flights between Manila and Los Angeles, Guam, Hong Kong, Osaka Kansai, Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, Fukuoka, Singapore and Riyadh.
PAL announced the cancellation of domestic flights between Manila and Cebu, Caticlan, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Pagadian, Butuan, Tacloban and Kalibo.
PAL also cancelled the Monday flights between Manila and Guam, Tokyo Haneda, Nagoya, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
Domestic flights that will be affected Monday are between Manila and General Santos, Davao, Cebu, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Dipolog, Legazpi, Butuan and Cagayan de Oro.
“This is a developing situation; further changes are expected. PAL will closely monitor the typhoon situation and will provide updates on further changes. Please continue to monitor the status of your flights,” PAL said.
It advised passengers affected by cancelled flights to either rebook the flight of their choice (on the same cabin class) within 30 days from original travel date with rebooking service fees waived or refund the ticket cost within 30 days from original travel date.
