Rody son seeks funds to treat cancer patients

Presidential son and Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte wants enough funds for cancer patients.

He says he has requested Speaker Lord Allan Velasco and ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Eric Yap, committee on appropriations chairman, to ensure that the National Integrated Cancer Center will get enough funds so it can provide cancer patients with proper assistance and save more lives.

Duterte was given the plum post of House committee on accounts chairman when Velasco became speaker.

“My Mom is a cancer survivor. Diagnosed in year 2016 and successfully recovered more a year after treatment and long-term survivorship transitions. It is our duty to provide help to fellow citizens and give our best. Give them a second chance to live,” Duterte said.

“We need to prioritize the needs of our fellow countrymen, especially those who don’t have enough income or capabilities to survive their illnesses.”

“I myself have people close to me who either succumbed to cancer or survived cancer and it’s very devastating,” Yap said.

“The order from Speaker Velasco and Representative Duterte is very clear: As the committee on appropriations chair, I will see to it that sufficient funding will be included for NICCA during the bicameral conference of the 2021 budget.”
