For its maiden foray into the world of digital launches, the Korean automaker in the Philippines opted to feature its sub-compact SUV, the Venue, during a recent video teleconference. There couldn't have been a wiser and more appropriate choice for HARI or Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. the newest SUV in its expansionary stable used the worldwide web as a springboard. Thus, the tagline “The World Is Your Venue.”
HARI president Fe Perez-Agudo told motoring journalists during a by-invitation-only video conference: The unveiling of the Venue signals our plan to continue with our digital presence in 2021.
Teased as a concept car at the New York auto show in 2019, the freshly minted Venue went into full commercial production just after the pandemic broke out and still made history.
The Venue comes equipped with Hyundai's patented Gamma 1.6-liter Multi-point Injection (MPI) gasoline engine that can churn out a maximum power of 123 ps at 6,300 rpm and maximum torque of 15.4 kg-m at 4,850 rpm. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission system, the Venue is touted to make its sporty handling pronounced in everyday driving, while still contributing to fuel efficiency to help you cover more miles and save up along the way. It boasts a monocoque or unibody structure, and a reliable suspension system comprised of a MacPherson strut-type suspension at the front and coupled torsion beam axle at the rear. It is also built with Hyundai’s Advanced High-Strength Steel (AHSS) which improves structural integrity to help protect the vehicle’s occupants and efficiently dissipate energy away from them in the unlikely event of a collision.
In addition to reinforcing the stiff body frame, the Venue has a total of six (6) airbags onboard: two (2) at the front, plus side and curtain airbags to help cushion the impact on occupants in case of a mishap.
Hyundai said it made this 6-airbag system even more advanced by efficiently sensing the degree of impact and collision severity, thereby comprehensively deploying airbags. There’s also the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) to help you keep the car steady and maneuver it safely even on challenging road situations like navigating slippery roads or avoiding road obstacles.
The Hyundai Venue is available in two variants: the 1.6-liter GLS 6-speed automatic and 1.6-liter GL 6-speed automatic. This next-generation SUV has a price tag of P 915,000 for the 1.6 GL 6AT and 9P85,000 for the 1.6 GLS 6AT.
