Calvin Abueva can finally play for the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel.
His suspension has been lifted after the Philippine Basketball Association gave him the clearance early yesterday morning.
Abueva was given the green light after he served the longest suspension in league history.
Because of this, Abueva will have a chance to see action again when the Fuel Masters’ meet the NLEX Road Warriors on Monday.
The decision to lift Abueva’s suspension came after PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial, deputy commissioner Eric Castro, and technical officer Mauro Bengua met with Abueva and interim head coach Topex Robinson on Saturday morning.
Discussions on Abueva’s case was done after he went through counseling with the Games and Amusement Board, and drug test.
Marcial also laid down the fines and penalties (suspension) that will be meted out by the PBA Commissioner’s Office should Abueva commit on and off-court misdemeanor in the future.
Last Friday,the Fuel Masters dedicated their 94-81 win over the Magnolia Hotshots to Abueva.
Abueva has been banned from the league since June 2019.
His ban came after a series of on-court incidents which included altercations with former Blackwater rookie Ray Parks and former TNT KaTropa import Terrence Jones.
He has since apologized for his actions. He has also performed community service and has undergone counseling sessions.
