Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy continued his impressive form in ONE Super Series after another convincing performance in his home country of Thailand.
The 26-year-old retained his ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title in style as he finished Magnus “Crazy Viking” Andersson in the main event of the previously recorded ONE: A NEW BREED III, which aired last Friday, 18 September.
In the third round, a thunderous left hand from Petchmorakot rocked Andersson hard and sent him scampering on wobbly legs, forcing the referee to give “Crazy Viking” a standing eight count.
Just when Andersson looked like he would survive the round, Petchmorakot rushed forward and connected with another straight left hand to get the stoppage finish at the 2:57 mark of the third round.
The win improved Petchmorakot’s record to 162-35-2 (1 NC) and is his second successful World Title defense in two months.
But he was not the only Petchyindee Academy standout to end up victorious.
His teammate, Capitan Petchyindee Academy, made ONE Championship history by knocking out Petchtanong Petchfergus in the co-main event of the evening in just six seconds in their ONE bantamweight kickboxing bout.
The finish was the fastest in ONE Super Series history and marked his arrival in The Home Of Martial Arts in style.
Capitan parried Petctanong’s jab and then countered with a jab of his own before throwing a heavy right cross that sent the six-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion crashing to the canvas.
The knockout was so convincing that the referee immediately stopped the contest without starting a count.
With the win, Capitan improved to 141-40 and now has his sights on reigning ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov.
