Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy wants to prove he is indeed the top featherweight in ONE Super Series Muay Thai, and he will get the chance to do so in the final installment of the “A NEW BREED” series.
Petchmorakot puts his ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title on the line against Magnus “Crazy Viking” Andersson in the main event of the previously recorded ONE: A NEW BREED III, which airs this Friday, 18 September.
It will be the second time that Petchmorakot defends his World Title in less than two months after edging out “The Boxing Computer” Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex by majority decision at ONE: NO SURRENDER.
While beating a big name like Yodsanklai was huge for Petchmorakot, he plans to put on a more convincing performance against Andersson, especially after being pushed by “The Boxing Computer” just over a month ago.
A stellar performance over “Crazy Viking” will erase all doubts that Petchmorakot is truly the top dog in the weight class – but it won’t be easy.
The 26-year-old Swede comes in as the fifth-ranked WBC middleweight following a successful run at Lion Fight, where he won the Super-Welterweight World Championship after beating Petsangnuan Sanguanchai.
Now he hopes to find the same success in The Home Of Martial Arts, and if he could use his reach against the rolling Petchmorakot, then he could shock the world.
However, the card isn’t only limited to the main event stars. Two of the world’s best strikers in Capitan Petchyindee Academy and Petchtanong Petchfergus are set to make their respective debuts in a ONE Super Series kickboxing bantamweight bout.
Capitan is one of the most skilled Muay Thai athletes in the division, making him a handful for any opponent. But this match will be contested under kickboxing rules, giving Petchtanong a slight advantage because of his proficiency in the sport.
Expect an ultra-competitive clash on Friday given that the two have a combined 496 wins in kickboxing and Muay Thai.
