There are 1,620 national athletes and coaches who will benefit from this.

The Philippine Sports Commission decided to cut the allowances of athletes and coaches to 50 percent from June to December as part of the agency’s cost-cutting measures to cope with the coronavirus pandemic.

“I was able to think it up for the athletes and the coaches and the other frontliners to be included in Bayanihan 2. I thank President Duterte for this,” said Tolentino, who is a congressman representing the eighth district of Cavite (Tagaytay).

The restoration of the allowances was first made through the help of House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano in Congress.

The benefit for national coaches and athletes will include a P5,000 COVID-19 assistance.

During Saturday's POC executive council, no new amendments were passed in relation to the elections this November.

Instead, the discussions dwelled more on the composition of the elections committee.
