There may have been a number of singers dubbed “Golden Voice” by fans and handlers especially now that even neophytes are prematurely given titles to push public image. Well, Alisah Bonaobra has proven her talent both on national TV and in the international stage. Her latest song release “Gintong Tinig” only further emphasized the legitimacy of a title bestowed upon her.
The X-Factor UK standout and The Voice of the Philippines runner-up finisher had all reasons to be pumped up for this song, with its official lyric video released on YouTube last Aug. 2. It is a track empowering her gift.
The petite ace talent shared, “’Gintong Tinig’ is about me and my life’s most important message. Sobrang special ito sa akin at naiiyak ako sa tuwa that I had been given this opportunity.”
Alisah’s current management RJA Productions has made things possible for her in the New Normal, with its strong support anchored on its US-based lady head Rosabella Jao-Arribas who, prior to pandemic, went the extra mile to sign her up after seeing and being mesmerized by her viral videos and world-class talent.
The new song is another gold catch for Alisah after her previous online-released track “Ginto Ang Sandali.” This one is special because it was penned especially for her by hitmaker Kiko Salazar.
Ever humble and grounded, she informed being starstruck while working with the revered tunesmith behind last decade’s Morisette Amon hit-ballad “Akin Ka Na Lang.” In describing her latest single, Alisah noted, “Masasabi ko po na ito’y kapana-panabik dahil it’s challenging to sing, in particular the bridge part.”
Back in 2017 Alisah’s X-Factor UK sing-off with fellow contestants Scarlett Lee and Rai-Elle Williams, where she arrestingly performed acapella the song "Bang Bang" (popularized by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj), wowed the live audience and judges including Simon Cowell and Sharon Osborne. Two years before that she performed with Dulce at the second season of The Voice Philippines.
In 2014, one Henrik Jensen posted a video of Alisah singing “Let It Go” (Idina Menzel) in a karaoke in Robinsons Manila. It became a viral hit; its number of views now stood at nearly 4.5 million.
With the ongoing pandemic, the cheerful, humble talent has kept herself busy by performing online as often as possible. “I feel so lucky na hindi ako pinababayaan ni Tita Rosabella and RJA, as what you can expect from a management keeping its promise to support their artists even in difficult times.”
Sadly, Alisah lost her beloved province-based grandfather Lolo Luciano last June and she could only pray at home with her family because of the community quarantine.
A homebody and pet lover, Alisah, when not singing, spends time with her big family, along with her 14 cats, five dogs, and two turtles.
