Tumauini, Isabela—This town will witness the rise of a state-of-the-art astrodome, the first of its kind in Region 2, this September, Mayor Arnold S. Bautista said.
The fully roofed stadium has 16 seating levels and will have a seating capacity of 8,000 people, Bautista said of the project. The two-storey building is topped by a steel-ribbed roof spanning 1,812 sq m.
Construction began in 2016 and will be completed under the “Ang Serbisyong Bayan” program, he added.
“The locally important architectural structure as a prime edifice will soon usher in not only indoor sports activities but also multiple events, considering its large playing field under a dome,” said Bautista, who is Isabela Chapter President of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines.
He expressed gratitude to the Provincial Government and the national government agencies for their support in realizing the astrodome.
The mayor, called the “Master Planner” by locals for his numerous infrastructure projects, is also eyeing the erection of the new municipal hall for the first-class municipality between the cities of Tuguegarao and Cauayan.
Bautista hopes that with the infrastructure developments and the developments under his administration, “the livable and progressive locale will soon be the next city in the province of Isabela.”
