Alorica Inc., an American business process outsourcing company, announced 4,000 job openings in the Philippines despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the industry.
The company said it would provide opportunities to jobseekers and career-shifters, even as the COVID-19 pandemic led to fundamental changes in how businesses were operating.
“The business process outsourcing industry remains to be a key pillar of the Philippine economy, and Alorica has pivoted to provide current and prospective employees with flexible and safe working options,” Alorica said in a statement.
“The BPO industry continues to provide essential services, even during a post-pandemic scenario. Our teams are supporting customers from all over the world, from fulfillment to financial transactions, as well as assisting in internet and telecommunications services,” said Bong Borja, Alorica’s president of Asia-Pacific operations.
“As we continue to grow and service some of the biggest brands in the world, we’re pleased to be able to help support the local economy and provide thousands of jobs, especially to many who have become unemployed as a result of this health crisis,” Borja said.
Alorica recently launched #NowYouCan campaign, which highlights the possibilities for current and prospective BPO workers. The company said it was looking to augment its workforce by close to 4,000 by the end of July.
The company is offering employment at its sites in Alabang, Cebu, Centris, Clark, Cubao, Davao, Fort, Ilocos Norte, Lipa, Makati, Marikina, Pasay and Sta. Mesa which are all strategic and accessible work locations for urban professionals.
“With COVID-19 still a part of our reality, Alorica is continuing to enforce comprehensive health, safety and sanitation measures to protect our people, in compliance with government guidelines. These include strict social distancing, mandatory thermal checks, heightened disinfecting and sanitizing activities, daily health surveys, assigned safety officers, complimentary shuttle service and more,” it said.
Alorica said work-at-home arrangements are also possible for qualified applicants. It agreed to provide near-hire applicants with the option to join free virtual English proficiency training.
Alorica said it offers competitive pay and modern healthcare support through Intellicare, allowing for medical consultations over the phone and home delivery of medicines.
“A career with Alorica also presents opportunities for further growth and development. Aloricans can work their way toward managerial positions or move laterally to gain more experience and deepen their understanding of clients’ businesses,” it said.
The company said that in 2019, more than 2,800 employees were promoted or moved laterally, indicating the vast opportunities for career growth in the company. Alorica also created recognition programs to highlight high-performing team members.
It said ideal candidates include those who have good communication skills, even if their past experience has been with other industries. Those who seek to jumpstart their professional life and are willing to undergo further training for either career growth or shift would benefit from working at Alorica.
