GMA Network Inc. rolled out cheaper digital television device to solidify its leadership.
GMA chairman and chief executive Felipe Gozon said digital terrestrial television receiver “GMA Affordabox” was specifically developed to be made accessible to millions of Filipino households.
“In celebration of this milestone of reaching seven colorful decades in the industry, we are more than grateful for the Filipinos’ continued trust in GMA Network as we reaffirm our commitment to deliver excellence in news and entertainment,” Gozon said.
The device features a multimedia player and a personal video recorder, including nationwide emergency warning broadcast system.
GMA Affordabox costs P888 with no monthly fees, cheaper by nearly half compared to the P1,499 TVPlus of rival ABS-CBN Corp.
ABS-CBN launched its digital set top box in 2015 and sold 8.9 million devices as of end 2019.
