Immigration officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport barred an American convicted of rape and other sexual offenses in the US from entering the country amid the pandemic.
The American, identified as Robert Joseph Binford, 61, was intercepted at the NAIA terminal 1 upon his arrival aboard a Philippine Airlines flight from Los Angeles, California.
BI-Port Operations chief Grifton Medina said Binford was denied entry and made to board the next available flight to his port of origin.
According to BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr., they received information from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) about Binford's offenses.
The suspect’s name was immediately included in the bureau’s blacklist of undesirable aliens.
