Don’t trust NPA rebels, Du30 tells soldiers

President Rodrigo Duterte cautioned government forces not to trust the New People’s Army as it continues to attack soldiers escorting government personnel distributing relief goods, as he rejected anew the idea of a possible resumption of peace talks with the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP’s) political wing, the National Democratic Front.

“No more peace talk, let’s fight,” Duterte said Monday night as he called the CPP-NPA enemies of the State.

“There is no hope for peace talks with the CPP founder Jose Ma. Sison, Duterte said.

The President slammed the communist rebels for reneging on their commitment to observe a unilateral ceasefire amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

“Be careful because again the NPAs are around. Now, there is no longer hope for further talks with Sison,” Duterte said.

He said the communist rebels will not think twice about killing government soldiers since they are determined to steal their firearms.

The President adviced military and police to stay vigilant against the rebels who are out to steal their firearms, urging the government soldiers to kill communist rebels to protect themselves.

“Do not be too confident about it. Even the station that they raid. They will kill you. And I am telling you, kill them also," he said.

Earlier, the President directed the government panel negotiating with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines not to resume formal peace talks unless the Reds agree to stop their attacks against government troops.
