Multi-awarded chorale group holds online fundraising concert

Coro San Benildo, the multi-awarded resident chorale group of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), kicks off Coro Sessions Live: An Online Fundraising Concert to raise funds for basic medical supplies and food packs to the frontliners of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), who are partners of the college for its Project Safe Shelter.

Coro San Benildo at the 46th Florilége Vocal de Tours in France, where they bagged three awards ­—Third Prize, Renaissance Contest; Third Prize, Mixed Vocal Ensembles; and the Audience Choice (Prix du public) award. 

Other recipients of donations include neighboring barangays affected by the enhanced community quarantine amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The performances are spearheaded by Coro San Benildo alumni including independent singer-songwriter and soloist Mark Atienza, 2019 National Music Competition for Young Artists finalist and baritone and tenor singer Marvin Bautista, and tenor classical artist and multi-awarded vocalist Mark Bautista.

Freelance musical theater performer, voice teacher, and 9 to 5 Manila vocalist Paula Paguio, performing arts teacher, freelance musician, voice coach, and singer-songwriter Hannah Dela Rosa, Believe Music’s Label Manager, session musician, and Malana and The Espasouls band member Pauline Lauron complete the lineup.

Coro San Benildo has participated in choral competitions local and internationally, where they garnered international distinctions including Folklore Category in the 1st Hoi An International Choral Competition in Vietnam, and 1st Sing ’n’ Joy Louisville International Choral Festival and Competition in Kentucky, U.S.A. 

The group likewise bagged a number of top prizes in the 54th Seghizzi International Choral Competition in Gorizia, Italy and Champion titles in the Youth Choir Competition in the 70th Llangollen Musical Eisteddfod in Wales, United Kingdom.

Final Coro Sessions Live will be held today starting 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m
