The conglomerate is also preparing 20,000 4-liter bottles and 240,000 375ml bottles of ethyl alcohol plus 350,000 bottles of Absolute 350ml white label distilled water for its employees, local government units and other frontline agencies like the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the Villar Group donated a first batch of disinfecting apparatus to nine government hospitals in Metro Manila, 200,000 face masks and daily supply of bottled drinking water to the government through the Department of Health to help combat COVID-19.

“In response to the escalating number of Filipinos affected by COVID-19, we are doing our part to support the efforts of the government to stop the transmission of the coronavirus,” said Villar Group head Manuel Villar.

“The disinfecting apparatus will help ensure the safety of our government hospitals, the medical frontliners as well as everyone in the vicinity of the hospitals; likewise, the face masks and drinking water are much needed by the medical personnel, police officers, soldiers as well as personnel from DSWD and MMDA as they implement the enhanced community quarantine in the entire Luzon,” Villar said.

Leading food and beverage kiosk operator Fruitas Holdings Inc. committed to donate at least 1,000 bottles of 100-percent fresh buko juice every day to the frontliners in the fight against COVID-19.

“Frontliners, ranging from doctors and nurses working in the hospitals, to armed forces, police and guards, are risking themselves to protect Filipinos from COVID-19 and this is our own way of expressing our gratitude. We’ll try to do our best to continue this every day until the Philippines gets through the COVID-19 pandemic. We are also encouraging our customer base to contribute to this campaign – every act of generosity counts,” said Fruitas president and chief executive Lester Yu said. Jenniffer B. Austria
